Collapse : how societies choose to fail or succeed - I'll tell you what happened here. Jared Diamond wrote Guns, Germs, and Steel, a most excellent book. It took him probably a decade and a half (lemme check something... can't find it, I seem to remember a mention of how long Guns, Germs, and Steel had been in progress). Collapse was printed 2005, Guns, Germs, and Steel in 1997, 8 years apart. It shows. I'll bet his publisher said "I need a book Now!", and as a result he got a poorly researched, less comprehensive book for it.

This is a book snob's book list. I am not a book snob.
